Fort Tryon Center was proud to be represented at a meaningful and important community conversation recently, when Congressman Adriano Espaillat hosted a select round table discussion with local leaders in New York City. Fort Tryon’s long time administrator Michael Karash was among the distinguished guests invited to attend.
The gathering brought together a thoughtful group of community leaders, including prominent rabbinical figures, to address two of the most pressing issues facing the Washington Heights and Inwood community today — affordable housing and antisemitism. The discussion was candid, respectful, and driven by a shared commitment to making the neighborhood a safe and equitable place for everyone who calls it home.
Congressman Espaillat engaged warmly with each participant, listening closely and speaking openly about the challenges ahead. The roundtable format created an atmosphere of genuine dialogue, where every voice at the table carried weight. It was exactly the kind of conversation that communities need — leaders sitting together, looking one another in the eye, and working toward real solutions.
For Fort Tryon Center, being part of this conversation matters deeply. We serve some of the most vulnerable members of our community, and the issues discussed — housing security and safety for all — touch the lives of our residents and their families directly. We are grateful to Congressman Espaillat for the invitation and proud that Michael Karash represented Fort Tryon Center with distinction.
We look forward to continuing to be an active and engaged voice in the community we are honored to serve.
