At Fort Tryon Rehab Center, caring for our residents goes beyond physical health — it means nurturing their emotional wellbeing, keeping their spirits high, and creating moments of pure joy. Two recent events captured exactly that spirit: a Mental Health Awareness Month celebration and an exciting Bingo prize event that had everyone buzzing with excitement.
Mental Health Awareness Month: Your Feelings Matter

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and at Fort Tryon, we made sure every resident and staff member felt seen, heard, and valued. Throughout the facility — from the common rooms to individual resident rooms and even the hallways — a green “Mental Health Awareness” photo frame made its rounds, decorated with powerful messages like “Your Feelings Matter,” “Sharing is Healing,” “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay,” and “You Are Worthy of Love and Support.”
Residents and staff posed with the frame, spreading awareness and smiles in equal measure. The green ribbons and uplifting messages served as a reminder that mental health is just as important as physical health — a message that resonates deeply in a skilled nursing setting where emotional wellness is part of everyday care.
Bingo with Prizes: Fun, Laughter, and Big Wins

Nothing brings a crowd together quite like a round of Bingo — and our residents showed up ready to play! The room filled with energy as bingo cards were distributed and the golden bingo cage began to spin. Residents of all backgrounds gathered around the tables, eyes focused and spirits competitive in the best possible way.
What made this Bingo session extra special was the prize table. Winners walked away with a wonderful selection of gifts including cozy slippers, soft fleece blankets, electric toothbrushes, and Fort Tryon branded backpacks. Residents proudly showed off their winnings, with beaming smiles that said it all.
Motor Skills Activity: Hands at Work
Keeping hands active and minds engaged is an important part of daily life at Fort Tryon. In a recent motor skills session, residents focused intently on a hands-on cutting and tracing activity, carefully working along the detailed edges of fun cartoon face patterns. The quiet concentration and determination shown by each participant was a testament to the dedication our residents bring to their own rehabilitation and wellness journey.
May was a full month here at Fort Tryon — and seeing our residents engaged, smiling, and thriving in so many different ways made it one to remember.
Stay tuned for more highlights from our vibrant community!
