Here in Fort Tryon, we highly encourage residents to not only do physical activities for body health, but also promote good mind well-being and mental health. This could be best achieved through meditation.
Meditation can reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. This helps to achieve a balance between mind, body, and spirit. Our minds come up with our great insights when we are in a more meditative and relaxed state. It enhances creativity, improves sleep, fight insomnia and treat other conditions.
Others think that meditation would require one to sit on the ground, cross legs and put your hands on your knees while your middle finger touches your thumb. If you are not comfy in doing this, well guess what, there is another meditation which really does not require you to be on the ground. You just have to be sitting on a chair.
This is called Chair Meditation. Residents will be taught of different ways on how to concentrate with their meditation. With this, residents will know how to meditate on their own if they want and can do it in basically different areas of the facility.
