Some weeks bring the music right to the residents’ doorstep, in the halls, in the common rooms, wherever people are gathered.
Strolling Violinist
A violinist walked through the halls, playing as she went, stopping in doorways and common areas to give residents a private little concert wherever they happened to be sitting. No stage needed, just a bow, some strings, and a willing audience.
Guitar Performance
A guitarist set up in the dining area and played for a seated crowd, singing into a mic while residents gathered around the tables to listen. Floral vines hung from the ceiling overhead, giving the room a garden party feel while the music played. Residents clapped along, some sang under their breath, and a few just sat back and enjoyed the show.
Pain Free Comedy
The Pain Free Comedy series brought a different kind of performance, a stand up comedian working the room with a mic in hand, getting laughs out of a crowd that clearly needed them. Therapeutic comedy might sound like an odd pairing, but the laughs in the room were real.
Karaoke Time
And when residents wanted to be the performers themselves, karaoke gave them the chance. Microphones passed from hand to hand, favorite songs got belted out with real enthusiasm, and nobody worried about hitting the right note.
