There’s something about a pony walking through the halls that just changes the whole mood of the day. This week, our residents got a visit from Kasey, a certified therapy pony dressed up in a blue feather boa and decorated vest, led by her handlers in cowboy hats and bandanas.
Kasey didn’t just make a quick appearance in the common room. She went room to room, stopping by residents who couldn’t join the group, including a few bedside visits for residents resting in bed. Watching her nuzzle up to outstretched hands, and seeing residents reach out to pet her mane, was a reminder of how powerful these small moments of connection can be.
Residents in the hallway and residents resting in bed alike lit up the moment Kasey came into view. Some reached out right away, while others needed a little encouragement, but by the end of the visit, smiles were everywhere.
We’re already looking forward to her next visit.
