We held a party!
A Luau is a traditional Hawaiian event to celebrate an occasion. In western culture, luaus have been a popular theme for a party as it is occasionally done outdoors. One important aspect of a luau is the lei. The lei is a necklace of flowers which both men and women wear.
During the luau party at Fort Tryon, residents were given their own leis to wear. A special performance was also in order as we had a special visitor to show us some traditional Hawaiian dance moves. Both staff and residents were able to participate in this and engage with one another.
